Machette

-
I created with clay a model from my primaries
-
I then used a kiln to bake the clay
-
the Machette was wrapped in wire
-
finally it was wrapped in fairy lights
From the machette I learnt that the form cannot have hands connected to the body as it's impossible to wrap wire around the hands and also keep the hands distinguishable.
I also learnt that the figure underneath is recognisable, therefore next time I will spray paint the figure underneath so it will stand out more. Light is a renowned embodiment of hope. Therefore, on consulting numerous people, I've reached the conclusion that hope is shown through prayer. Combining Stainthorpe's woman on her knees with the idea of hope, I wish to look at making a sculpture of hands praying, or with their hands open to fill.
