My initial Idea was to make a large round surface of plates and wine glasses much like the works of Daniel Spoerri except i'd add books on it and draw, my zoomed in book pages or digital drawings from this project, drawing across the books like the style of Ekatarina Panikanova.  

Out of impracticality, I modified my plans into little round surfaces, or Pizza boards which I hoped to make a big shape out of. 

I raided my recycling bin to find cans and chewing gum pots, used coffee mugs and wine bottles. 

I then went out the next day and bought

• a gin glass

• heavy duty extra strong velcro

• 3 coffee mugs

• some cutlery

• 10 cake boards, as Pizza boards weren't flat, were too heavy, were metal and were non-stick meaning I couldn't easily stick my items on to iit. 

• I also brought random objects from my house such as a feather and a lightbulb.

looking through my object, I noticed a pattern. the objects I had divided into three catagories; Alcohol, Caffeine and Chewing gum (saccharine).

On this realisation, I evaluated my plan. 

The books I had were school books, even the novels, they were books given to me by the school library, or by the science department. They are books of studying. these books in my previous works signified memories, they were meant to represent the faded journals that we leave behind.

The reality is they are school books, they represent studying- and these three categories are addictive substances often triggered by studying. 

Addiction centre states alcohol is the 4th most addictive substance on earth, and both caffeine and chewing gum are substances many people declare they are 'dependent' on, especially students when studying. 

A survey and research into whether students run on affeine by 'the beacon' proves it is very likely the case.

All in all, I decided to divide the large composition at first into the three different catagories, then I finally decided on a layout which would come together as one huge piece but would be ordered into the three sections of addiction.
