Hubert Scheibl has produced abstract pictures since the beginnings of his career in the 1980s. In the 1990's he reduced his personal handwriting in favour of a flat, almost monochrome style of painting radiating a meditative tenor and using mainly Palette knife.
Hubert Scheibl's paintings are characterized by their overwhelming formats and their depth and are recognised as an outstanding exponent of an abstract-sensitive, lyrical style of painting.
The exhibition FLY concerntrates on longings and utopias. This juxtaposes large and small paintings with a compact environment with the ambition to create a broken labyrinth of an expedition.
The vast contrasts in dimension combined with the overwhelming sensual nature of his work alters the traditional relationship between space and viewer.
